Meditation: STABILIZING after the death of my husband

Better Living Meditations - a tree that is dead on the left side and alive and well on the right side.

When I lost my husband in 2013, the anguish nearly overcame me. Depression and anxiety were my constant companions. Yet, I needed to stand tall as a mother of two teenage daughters also reeling from the loss. My ability to focus was at best, scattered. I managed work, the finances, a home, and the support of my daughters. It required a new level of operating.

I spent time with friends, exercised, tried to sleep, and late in 2013, read Super Brain, Unleashing the Explosive Power of Your Mind to Maximize Health, Happiness, and Spiritual Well-Being. So began my journey to not only survive, but to thrive. I triumphed. I struggled. I stumbled and stood back up. Then, in November of 2017, Oprah Winfrey & Deepak Choprah offered a 21-day meditation. After 17 of the 21 days, I was hooked!

It transformed my ability to control my emotions, focus on tasks at hand and importantly— to get things done! I was amazed and wanted to share it with others. I won’t credit meditation with all of my healing and subsequent growth— that’s a bigger nut— but meditation definitely helped. After six years of meditating regularly, I have an inner calm, a positive outlook and a stable core that is nearly imperturbable.

Between 2016-2019, I was fortunate enough to begin sharing my passion for Meditation and Mindfulness. I was invited to host monthly Mindful Monday sessions for a regular crowd of 90 people and periodically was invited to host mindfulness sessions for town halls for up to 200 people. Now, I want to bring those same benefits to a broader audience— to you and to your life. I hope you’ll join me and permit yourself a mental retreat from your daily challenges with this short practice. Listen now.
